Why Decidit? 🤔

The quality of your decisions determines the future of your life. With the right choice, you gain time, energy, and satisfaction—with the wrong one, you lose precious resources and opportunities.

This tool helps you avoid making important life decisions based on gut feeling. Very simple, without formulas, with a clear overview.

Other products only count hard facts. But what tips the scales is rarely black and white. With Decidit you individually rate the soft criteria too, on a fine-grained slider.

Should I go on a semester abroad? Should I buy a Macbook or PC? Which online course should I take? Master's degree or straight into the job market? Freelance or permanent employment? Which university suits me best? Should I rent or buy? Which course of study should I choose? Which appartment should I take? Should I move to a different city? Which job offer should I accept? Which shared apartment should I move into? Which car suits my needs?

Tips 🙋‍♂️
  • Don't create too many criteria. Ten or more will make it confusing. Focus on the most important factors.
  • Make sure that multiple criteria do not measure the same thing (e.g., "Range" and "Fuel consumption"), otherwise this aspect will be weighted twice and distort the result.
  • If your gut feeling doesn't match the result, double-check your criteria; perhaps you've forgotten something. Or perhaps you've already made up your mind. Even then, the decision matrix has provided you with an important insight. See also: coin flip trick

It's that easy 🍦

1

List your options

List all decision options (e.g. "Keep job", "Take new job offer") and keep track of them. The more options available, the more helpful Decidit can be in making a decision.

2

Choose your criteria

The options are evaluated based on your personal criteria (e.g. "Salary", "Work-life balance"). The criteria will help you find the best solution for you. You can define as many criteria as you need.

3

Weight your criteria

weight the criteria according to your personal standards to sharpen the result (for example if work-life balance is more important for you than the salary). This can be crucial in determining which option is actually right for you.

What sets Decidit apart from comparison sites

Comparison sites mostly line up hard facts: price, features, technical specs. The softer criteria fall by the wayside, even though those are often the ones that tip the scales. With Decidit you decide which criteria count and how much each one weighs. And because such judgements are rarely black and white and differ from person to person, you rate them on a fine-grained slider instead of a plain yes or no.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a decision matrix and how does it work?

A decision matrix is a structured tool where you evaluate options against weighted criteria and calculate a score. Decidit handles the math automatically – just enter your options, criteria, and ratings.

Is Decidit free?

Decidit is completely free and requires no sign-up. You can start immediately and create your decision matrix right in your browser. Ragistration enables additional functionalities, such as saving decisions.

How does Decidit calculate the score for a decision?

For each option and criterion, you assign a rating (0–10). Each criterion has an importance weight (1–5 stars). Decidit multiplies rating × weight and sums the values – the option with the highest score wins.

What kinds of decisions is Decidit suitable for?

Decidit works for any decision with multiple alternatives: comparing job offers, choosing an apartment or house, buying a car, selecting a degree program, or making technology decisions as a team and much more.
