Features and limits

Decidit is a weighted decision matrix in the browser: you weight each criterion with 0.5 to 5 stars, rate every option on a slider from 1 to 10, and Decidit turns that into one score per option. This page lists every value exactly as the app uses it – and what the tool deliberately leaves out.

What Decidit does

Method Weighted decision matrix, also known as utility analysis (German: Nutzwertanalyse) or weighted scoring.
Weighting Every criterion is weighted with 0.5 to 5 stars, in half-star steps.
Rating Every option is rated per criterion on a slider from 1 to 10, in steps of 0.5.
Score Every rating is multiplied by its criterion's weight; the products are added up and divided by the sum of all weights. The score therefore sits on the same 1–10 scale as the ratings.
Empty cells An unrated cell counts as 0, while its criterion's weight stays in the calculation.
Options & criteria No upper limit in the editor. A prefill link accepts up to 10 options and 10 criteria.
Templates 24 ready-made templates in 7 categories.
Saving without an account The draft lives in the browser tab's session storage and is gone once you close the tab.
Saving with an account A free account stores decisions permanently, so you can reopen and edit them later.
Sharing A saved decision can get a public link that shows the result. The link can be revoked at any time.
Result as an image The result can be downloaded as a PNG card or passed to the system share menu.
Prefilled by link A matrix can be prepared via URL: /decide?title=…&options=…&criteria=…&ratings=… – useful when an AI assistant sets up the decision for you.
Languages English and German.
Price Free and usable without an account. There is no paid plan and no payment function.

How is the score calculated?

Every rating is multiplied by the weight of its criterion. Those products are added up and divided by the sum of all weights. That keeps the score on the same 1–10 scale as the ratings, no matter how many criteria you use.

Worked example

Two criteria: salary (weight 5, rated 8) and work-life balance (weight 3, rated 5).
(8 × 5 + 5 × 3) ÷ (5 + 3) = 55 ÷ 8 = 6.875 → Decidit shows 6.9.

Scores are rounded to one decimal place. If a cell is left empty it counts as 0, while the weight of its criterion stays in the divisor – so leaving cells blank lowers the score.

What Decidit does not do

If you need a spreadsheet instead, the comparison with Excel explains when that is the better choice.
